"Great adventure"
This was one of the highlights of our trip!!! We spent 10 days in Sayulita recently and although there was no shortage of wonderful experiences, this topped the list. Rio found us on the beach and convinced us to go with him and his crew on this trip. Reason I say "convinced" is because there are many different options and due to this being Mexico, you are constantly being sold something. Needless to say, we chose him and are glad we did. While out on the boat, we got very lucky and saw Dolphins, Turtles and while snorkeling, Sting Rays and a variety of fish.
Our favorite part of this trip was the care-free and unorganized aspect of it. I literally felt as though I was hanging out with friends the whole time and not on some structured excursion for gringo's :)
Next time I find myself down there again, I'll definitely be spending the day with them on the boat.

Our swedish group of 10 people (adults and children) thought the sailing trip was great! All of it!
The boat - Sayula 1 - felt safe and the crew was amazing to us and our kids - with excellent food, drinks and service!
Swimming and snorkelling around the Marietta Islands was great and we got to see whales as well - very nice of course!
One of the best new years days we ever had!
Thanks Rio and your crew for a fantastic day!
"Last minute sunset cruise was perfection!"
We met Rio in Sayulita and he told us a little about himself and the company. He was an entertaining guy and the next day we decided to stop by his office and see if we could arrange for a sunset cruise that night. He quickly contacted the boat captain while out at sea to check on the possibility and we discussed a price for the four of us (plus my chihuahua Diego).
We agreed to meet back at his office in about an hour and a half. When we arrived, Rio had a surprise for us, he had pulled together a couple of his musician friends to play for us on the boat (incredible!). We traveled about 20 minutes to the marina and quickly boarded the trimaran. It didn't take long to know we had made a great choice and were in for an adventure. We were offered cocktails and cerveza and were made to feel very comfortable by the crew.
Off we went for several hours. On the journey we got to see lots of dolphins who seemed to like the music on the boat and stayed with us for a while, we cannonballed into the ocean and visited a private beach (the captain was nice enough to take my dog to shore for a bathroom break on a sea kayak) watched the sunset and listened to great live music.
This was seriously the highlight of an incredible 6 day vacation in Mexico. These guys are the real deal and are great to sail with. I highly recommend them."

"Wonderful day at the Marietas Islands"
We had a truly amazing day with Rio, Pancho and the rest of the crew aboard Sayula 1.
We started the day on a relaxed and laid back pace, sailing towards las Mariettas, getting to know the crew and the other passengers (delightfully small group, which really added to the pleasure of the cruise), and listening to cool music (no tacky touristy music on that boat :)).
After a swim stop and some fishing we stopped at 2 different snorkeling spots. I am not very confident in the water and did really appreciate
the patience, kindness and support from the crew.
After the visit of the caves at las Marietas we enjoyed a nice lunch prepared on board, before sailing back towards the marina. On the way back we took our time, enjoyed live music, some Spinnaker sailing and more swimming.
Overall it was a really wonderful day, very relaxing, and in great company.
We of course saw the 2 other boats that you can book from Sayulita during the day and felt so happy to have made the right choice by choosing Sayula 1 and its crew.
Don't miss that activity if you spend some time in Sayulita.
Hey guys, Just wanted to let Trip Advisor friends know this is a rad adventure.
My new wife and I were sitting on the Sayulita beach sipping beer and relaxing. This friendly guy Rio stopped by and asked if we were interested in a catamaran sailing trip to The Marietas Islands. We asked him if he was a time share guy and he assured us he was not. He gave us a price that was great and said it would include meals, all drinks, and the full sailing adventure with a bathroom on board. We said yes and he collected a little to
help stock the boat for the adventure.
The next morning we met at the dock and were greeted by
one of the crew who was friendly and fun.
The rest of the people all showed up (30ish) and we set sail out of the harbor. Side note our boat was comfortable and roomy with 30 people. The other catamaran boats we saw while out there were loaded with 100 people, and were very corporate and looked like cattle being herded around. The crew brought us fresh fruits to eat and Rio remembered we just got married so he surprised us with champagne to toast. What a rad personal touch!
While heading out the captain stopped and told everyone they could jump in to the ocean to cool off and refresh themselves. We all did and it was perfect. Once back on board we headed to the first island and geared up (flippers, life vest) to head in to the hidden cove. Rio swam ahead of us guiding us safely through the opening. Chewy one of our crew swam with
the middle to help them as well.
The cove was beautiful with caves to explore.
We headed back to the boat and headed to the second island where we snorkeled,
had lunch, drank, and relaxed.
Rio hired a band and photographer just for us no extra charge.
The band was fun and played requests.
The photographer spent the trip catching fun moments with couples and friends.
We headed back as the sun was setting, with full bellies, and sun soaked bodies. Out of 10 days we spent in Puerto Vallarta it ranked in the top 2 out of 15 things we did that week.
Thanks to Rio and crew for a great time, the personal touch, and memories to
tide us over till we come back!
Book this trip guys, it was fantastic.

Walking around Sayulita with another family
we met in our hotel we decided to book a sailing trip. At the office of Sayulita Sailing Explorations, we had the pleasure to meet Rio, the tour guide. He made all the arrangements for both families and we were off to our boat Sayula 1. The boat was in great condition and there we met Pancho and the rest of the crew.
They were very energetic, friendly, knowledgeable and fun guys. The meals, snacks and our drinks were just delicious. We saw a myriad amount of birds flying around us the whole time. We were lucky to see dolphins swimming along side of the boat- my daughter’s favorite part. We went snorkeling, swimming, sunbathing and relaxing while listening to very fun music. While the two teenage girls were swimming and soaking the sun, my son and I were introduced to a type of parasailing called Spinnaker sailing- that was a lot of fun!
We were able to see groups on other boats that in my personal opinion seemed to lack personality and class. I was very impressed and delighted with the professionalism, friendliness and quality of experience we got from Sayulita Sailing Explorations.
Hats off to Rio, Pancho and his crew! THANK YOU!
